GWEZJ

This is a pretty decent collection of stuff, in my opinion, and it also gives some insight into the music of The Cramps, who covered some of these songs outright but also used them as their "inspiration" for certain tracks, although I can't say "inspiration" is exactly the word since The Cramps seem to have liberally "borrowed" parts of the songs on this compilation. I love instrumentals & there are some really great ones on here,"Uh Oh" by The Imps being one of my favorites, with its raw, grungy rhythm/bass and its addictive lead guitar lines...this song just begs to be covered by Los Straitjackets. Also I love "Werewolf" by The Frantics. This collection definitely shows some of the darker side of early rock & roll. There are a few things on here that I wouldn't exactly call "rockabilly", and there's a few songs I didn't care for, but overall this is a nice collection for the price, which is actually pretty cheap if you happen to live near a Half Price Books store. Worth checking out.
